The HTC J Butterfly is a smartphone designed and developed by HTC for release in Japan, and the successor to the HTC J. Unveiled on 17 October 2012 by Japanese carrier KDDI, the J Butterfly was released in 9 December 2012 in Japan. It is the second smartphone in the world to feature a 1080p display, after Oppo's Find 5. The phone will arrive with Android version 4.1 (dubbed Jelly Bean), a quad-core 1.5 GHz Snapdragon S4 Pro processor, and an 8-megapixel camera. It comes with 2 GiB of RAM and a 2,020 mAh battery.

The J Butterfly is waterproof and has a 5-inch "Super LCD 3" display with full HD resolution (1920x1080 pixels). This translates to a pixel density of 440 ppi.
